How to Use CBD Lotion

If you’ve ever heard about CBD (short for cannabidiol), the first thing that comes to mind is probably “CBD oil.” And, indeed, oil is the most common form of CBD on the market today. But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t other methods of using this compound that is beneficial for one’s health.

In truth, the range of CBD topical benefits is wide. These products come in various forms including balms, lotions, salves, creams, serums, various massage oils, and many others.

In this post, you’re going to learn about the basics of CBD skin cream solutions (and other topicals), various CBD lotion uses, and how to go about getting the most from these products.

CBD Topical Benefits

You have probably heard about tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It’s one of the most popular cannabinoids, derived from cannabis. CBD, on the other hand, is the most popular non-psychoactive cannabinoid. So, don’t worry, CBD is safe to use.

Let’s talk about some of the many CBD topical benefits.

For one, CBD comprises various antioxidants and amino acids that are therapeutic to your body. They help make your skin soft, healthy, and smooth. In addition, given the fact that CBD skin cream products are oil-based, they also help keep your skin moisturised.

These topical products help fight inflammation, block itching, and remove scarring. They are great for, acne, itching, and many other skin issues.

How to Use CBD Topicals

Applying CBD skin cream products, lotions, and other topicals is simple. Just squeeze out the lotion onto your hands and rub it on the area where you’re experiencing discomfort or where you want to see improvement.

But avoid any wastage. Even the CBD topicals with low potency work their best when applied sparingly. Instead of covering your hands in CBD cream, use a small dollop and spread it well. Another way that will help you avoid wastage is by focusing on some key areas only.

For instance, instead of covering your legs with a CBD topical, focus on your knees, elbows, and joints. For feet, soles and heels will do. The focus for the upper back area is your neck and shoulders. For your face, focusing on the area around your nose and the temples should do the trick.

With pain relief topicals, you should get a pump dispenser, which helps measure an accurate and recommended dose. Although you don’t need to be strict with CBD application, you should at least keep the dosage in mind.

As a rule of thumb, apply a small amount of the product onto the problem areaand it should start working within the hour. If nothing happens, apply a bit more. Once you’ve figured out the right dosage for your problem, make sure to leave a 3-4-hour window between each re-application.

With that said, there is a difference between using CBD topicals and your regular lotion products. The difference here is that you shouldn’t go overboard with the amount of CBD, as it can cause a counter-effect. Plus, applying too much oil can result in blocked pores, which defeats the purpose of any topical product.

Unfortunately, you can’t predict exactly how much CBD is right for you. So, start with a low dosage. Yes, a low-dose topical is often insufficiently effective, when compared to a higher-dosage solution. However, starting things slow will allow you to “feel things out” and find your perfect amount of CBD without experiencing any side effects.

So, whether you’re using a CBD skin cream, balm, salve, or lotion, start off with lower dosages.

Choosing the Right Cream

There are some other things that you should consider apart from the CBD content. Understand that there are various CBD topical products out there that are subpar, while others offer superior quality. Here are some things to keep in mind when making your choice:

Quality Control

Quality Control, or QC, is a hugely important factor to keep in mind, regardless of the product type. When it comes to CBD topicals, the first thing that you’ll want to do is see where the product is made. Then, try to find the facility in question by looking up those that are compliant with CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practise). This list includes facilities that are FDA-approved.

Pay special attention here, as there are many manufacturers who aren’t certified.

The Brand

Then, take a look at the brand itself. First of all, you should look for a brand that has been around for a while. Secondly, you’ll want your go-to CBD lotion brand to be present and active on social media. Don’t be afraid to contact them and see how (and if) they respond. If a brand doesn’t have time or patience for their customers, they don’t deserve their attention.

Oh, and look for customer reviews. Not just the product rating, the actual reviews. There are plenty of these to be found online. Read at least 10 of them and see how satisfied the brand’s customers are, in general.

Source, Potency, and Extraction Method

Look for brands that are certified for non-GMO origin. Make sure that the extraction method they use is a reliable and robust one, like the ones used with ethanol and CO2. Finally, check for potency. If you’re just getting started, and a brand of CBD topicals doesn’t offer low-dose options, it might not be the best one for you.

Other Ingredients

Although clean CBD topicals do exist, most come with various additional ingredients that are beneficial for the skin. These include jojoba, coconut, rosehip, lavender, and other essential oils.

However, you should aim for more effective ingredients than essential oils, with CBD topicals for pain relief. Aim for ingredients with a cooling or warming effect, like turmeric, for example.

CBD Topical Use

Whether we’re talking about lotions, creams, or essential oils, CBD topicals boast various beneficial effects for your skin. However, you should keep this post in mind when choosing your go-to brand and ideal dosage. Always remember to start with low dosage options and then move up gradually. Listen to what your body is telling you, and enjoy the benefits of CBD topicals.
